php/MySQL

Went and saw Tomb Raider 2 yesterday. Good movie, but there is a damn anti piracy about add in with the previews. Some "low level" employee worried about loosing his job at the studio. Yeah, right. Really pissed me off. How much did I pay to go see the movie? I'm sorry, but Tom Cruise may have missed out on another million dollars to go with the 100's of millions he gets. Maybe they should make movie tickets a bit cheaper?!!?!

Just ordered a PhP/MySQL book from Amazon last night. I can't wait to get ahold of it. Tutorials online someties are frustrating. I've been having trouble getting PostgreSQL working. A bit much to get working. And I forget the name of the standalone small data base. Not requiring a daemon sounds good. I should be able to write an app that has an empbedded sql library AND database that I can give to users.

ANTLR and Archive.org

ANTLR - Lorenzo pointed me to this YACC like parser many years ago and now I'm going to try to use it to parse an excel dump and see if it is as easy to use as he says it is.

If we replaced all out electricity needs with solar cells, how bad would the polution problem become from dead cells? Could they be recycled without nasty byproducts?

The web way back machine

Just got a Sony DVD/CD/MP3 player (thanks Mom and Dad!) and it rocks! Being able to play straight MP3's beats our old changer hands down. Yes, I know it isn't new tech and that Alex had one of these in 2000. It's still pretty cool.

Now I just need an 802.11 access point at home!

I love the Apple X11 Beta 3 X Server, but the window manager has one little thing that has been driving me crazy... the bottom right corner is covered by the resize button. Arg.

Torrey Pines

How Stuff Works

Torrey Pines field trip... missed a spot with the sunscreen. Ouch.

Intel only lets its employees use http. Why do they have to go and block ssh?

California Coastline Project

Just got the Goldfrapp album Black Cherry. Excellent. Something go to listen to while trying to write three different papers.

Finally checked out the California Coastline project page. Here is where I work. A very cool site.
